The wife of the senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Mrs. Abigail Marshall Katung has magnanimously paid for the 2024 JAMB and SSCE registration fees of 348 students, drawn from all 174 government secondary schools across the senatorial district.
“This scholarship is aimed at rewarding hard work and excellence and promoting a culture of healthy competition in our communities,” she said.
The students were selected using independent information provided by the Kaduna State Ministry of Education, using State organised promotional exams for SSII to SSIII. The top male and female students from each school were selected. For only-boys’ and only-girls’ schools, the top two students were selected.
The top 50 candidates with the highest scores in JAMB, 25 each of science/engineering, and arts/social sciences would be offered full scholarships to study in their chosen universities by the Marshall Katung Foundation. The scholarship will be for the entire duration of their study.
Recall that Mrs. Abigail Marshall-Katung was recently elected as the 130th Lord Mayor of Leeds. She became the first person of African descent to hold the prestigious title.
Hon Abigail Katung is grateful to the 8 Local Government Education Desk Officers who committed themselves to making this a success.
