“We are gathered here today to celebrate and to appreciate a profound gesture of good will,” Mutum said. Adding that, “Compassion, love, care and sacrifice extended to us and the internally Displaced Persons( IDPs) under our care at the Nehemiah IDP Camp.”
He went further saying, “It will be recalled that on the 9th of January, 2024 our dear mother, Mrs. Oghogho Chris Gwabin Musa, the wife of the Chief Of Defense Staff and the 15th President of Defense And Police Officers’Wives Association DEPOWA took the initiative of visiting all the internally Displaced Persons camps in Kaduna (ours inclusive) with palliatives and words of encouragement to the displaced.

“She brought with her food items worth millions of Naira, It was upon her coming that we took time to spelled out some of our needs such as WASSE registration fees of qualified candidates, skill acquisition trainings, women and widows empowerment, children health and academic welfare, including this water project we are about to commission.
“Within one week after her coming. All the 29 qualified WASSE candidates had their registration fees paid, exercise books worth millions of Naira were distributed in the camp and other selected schools within Southern Kaduna, young men are already profiled for metal and aluminum fabrication, young women and widows too were captured for different skills and empowerment scheme.
“Water was our major challenge before this project. As the saying goes “water is life” and lack of it in sufficience and being clean had led to so many ailments in the camp in the past, but we believe that it is a thing of the past now.
“I make bold to say this is the first concrete and permanent investment that is made by either an individual, government agency or non-governmental organization in 9 years of my thorough engagement with the internally displaced of Southern Kaduna.
“The amiable president of DEPOWA and her team are doing a great work in the nation. One will expect the wives of our proud and gallant defense and Police officers should concentrate in military matters but they have chosen to be part of the healing of wounds of civilians and the nation by providing relief to the wounded. I want to say on behalf of myself, The Governor’s Assembly, which house’ the Nehemiah IDP Camp and the entire displaced Persons to DEPOWA president, her entire team, our dear daddy the CDS, the wife of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, we thank you.”
