Candidate for the People’s Democratic Party Chairmanship race in Kaduna State in the upcoming party’s Congress in the state, Mr. Edward Auta met with the party’s Chairmen of Zone 1 and 2, yesterday, Wednesday, June 12, 2024 and acquainted them with his intention to contest for the coveted position and he dished out Sallah largesse to them to cushion the effect of the economic realities that is bedeviling our nation.

Speaking eloquently across the party’s apparatchik, Edward said, my visit is to give you all the respect you deserve because of the pivotal role you are playing in sustaining and advancing the party’s ideals and to identify and share with the Muslim Ummah in the atmosphere of Sallah and to announce to you my intention to contest for the party’s Chairmanship position in the state.
However, my oga, the one that I always refer to as a super chairman, Hon. Hassan Hyat has performed incredibly well over the years. For the first time in the history of opposition in the state, an opposition party won 3 Senatorial seats and won 10 House of Assembly seats. This is a feat that is worthy of praise.
This is why I often say that we need the wisdom and experience of the old and the energy and strength of the youth to reach our desired destination.
I’m a young man who is braced with the armour to lead a vibrant opposition. I have passion for our dear party, I have the capacity and capability, and I’m brave to be saddled with this all-important responsibility. I have served under our party’s leaders from both southern and northern axes, I have come through the tutelage and the mentorship of political heavy weights from both aisles.

Though young, I have paid my dues in my little way. I have taken risks for the party, and I have defended the interest of the party with my might. When the grand plan by Gov. Nasiru el-Rufai administration to manipulate the outcome of the Zango-Kataf council election leaked, I wrote a letter that I warned the government to stay clear of the election and allow the will of the people to prevail. The content of the letter shook the state and dared the government. I was invited by the then Commissioner of Police and my life was threatened. However, security reports that came out clearly spelt out to the government the imminent danger of my arrest and the danger of disallowing the will of the people to prevail. And until today, PDP has been pivoting the affairs of the local government.
If elected, I will run an opposition that is scientific in approach where databases and imperial evidence will be used in holding government accountable on behalf of the people of the state. I will be analytical and prompt in highlighting the woes and rots of the state while out of office, yet PDP will drive the momentum of development and determining the trend of development.
He added that lack of elite consensus and lack of equity are the factors that alluded PDP over the years. Lack of equity and neglect of party members are responsible for antiparty activities. If given the mandate, I will ensure a system that will carry everyone along and give attention to equity. People will certainly be the core of the forces that will drive us to our collective destination.
A political gladiator from zone 1, Alhaji Isaq Alhassan (Kauran Mata) described Edward as an intelligent young man. He further said that Edward is reliable because we have served in various committees with him. He is a man of his words and straightforward.
A veteran politician from Jaba LGA, Alex Ankuma, said Edward is well-positioned for the job. He is young, intelligent, reliable, respectful, and someone who is quick in receiving counsel. If you people know who this young man is, you will give him the mandate, he said.
