The Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, has facilitated the construction of a solar-powered borehole with a mini treatment plant at the Kaduna State College of Nursing and Midwifery, Kafanchan, in Jema’a Local Government Area.
The Senator has also included Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan-Waya and Federal School of Statistics, Manchok. Other locations for the boreholes include Antong community, Zitti Community, Madakiya Central, Zango Urban, Zonkwa Market and Ghauta communities.
The construction of the Nine solar-powered boreholes with mini treatment plants, awarded to Messrs. CWM Contracting Ltd, is domiciled in the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
Senator Katung had last week ordered the construction of about 30 manual boreholes across communities in the senatorial district.
This is part of Senator Katung’s efforts to ameliorate the suffering of the people of the constituency in accessing portable water.
A statement by the Media Aide to the Senator, Midat Joseph said Senator Katung is determined to contribute his quarter towards cushioning the challenges faced by constituents in accessing clean water at homes and schools environments.
“The successful completion of the project would mark a crucial step in addressing water scarcity, a challenge faced by numerous households across our senatorial district.
“By providing sustainable, safe water sources, Senator Katung not only improves public health but also enhances the quality of life for our people,” he added
Mr. Midat described Sen. Katung as a leader who loves his people dearly and, will do anything possible to bring hope to the people of Southern Kaduna.
“Senator Katung believes that access to clean water is fundamental to the well-being of any community. The construction of these boreholes signifies more than just an infrastructure project; it is a major contribution to the public health framework of the senatorial district.”
