* Rijo Describes Development as a Major Boost for the APC in Kaduna South Senatorial District
The Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has welcomed Mr. Rijo Shekari, a renowned youth politician and champion of community development, into its fold. This move is seen as a significant boost to the party’s efforts towards dislodging the PDP in the Kaduna South Senatorial zone.
Mr. Shekari, a distinguished Commonwealth scholar, chartered accountant of the United Kingdom, and graduate of Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, joined the APC to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. His decision was also motivated by his desire to bring his zone closer to the government at all levels.
In a statement released by Hon. Dennis David, an APC stakeholder from Ung. Rimi Ward of Zangon Kataf LGA, he noted that “as a Senior Legislative Aide to the Deputy President of the Senate and member of the presidential committee for the review and implementation of the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund (NYIF), Mr. Shekari’s expertise and network will undoubtedly enhance the party’s presence in the zone.”
While it remains to be seen whether Mr. Shekari will vie for a political seat in the 2027 general elections, his entry into the APC is undoubtedly a positive development for the party in the zone and state at large, the statement added.
Reacting to the development, the state chairman of the APC, retired Air Commodore Emmanuel Jekada, hailed Mr. Shekari’s decision, citing his immense popularity, especially among youths, as a valuable asset to the party. In his words, “Mr. Shekari’s influence extends beyond politics, as he has been instrumental in granting scholarships and driving community development initiatives in his local government and zone.” “We welcome him into the party and look forward to working with him to consolidate on the development strides of the APC driven by both Governor Uba Sani and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in our state and Nigeria at large.”
