At a townhall meeting with the SSO to the Chairman, Kauru Local Government, 5 Councillors, representatives of Chief of Kumana, elders and community members of Kugauta, Kusheka, Kwassam and others that have witnessed spate of violent attacks, banditry and kidnappings, the representative of the Chief of Defense Staff, Mr. Musa Likita has reiterated the commitment of his principal, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, and the security forces in ending insurgency in the country.

Speaking to comm
unity leaders and their subjects, Likita tasked them to be stakeholders in securing and the maintenance of peace and security in their communities by working closely with the military and other security forces.
“One of the difficulties we faced as security experts is lack of adequate information from the people of the community, and most people are not sensitive with the happenings around, making information sharing and response difficult.

“The security forces rely on the people of the community to act on, without information the security forces can not embark on a wild-goose-chase.
“We must all join forces to combat insecurity, or we sit back and allow the evil ones amongst us to kill us all. We’ve options, and we have tasks to either be proactive and not reactive, share information or not, and anyone we chose has its pros and cons.
“Nevertheless, we need to sustain the ongoing engagement despite the challenges,” Likita said.
