Muslim community in Southern Kaduna led by Alhaji Iliyasu Musa, Chairman of Jama’atu Nasril Islam(JNI) of Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna and other notable figures from Zango-Kataf, Kauru and Kachia LGAs sang praises on Senator Sunday Marshall Katung for carrying the Muslim community along in all his activities and his unbiased approach to leadership.
Speaking further, Iliya reiterated that, “In our existence as Muslim in Southern Kaduna, we have never been touched, positively, by any political leader like during the Late Gov. Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa administration and now, under Senator Sunday Marshall Katung. Our amiable Senator always identifies with us throughout the Islamic calendar, and we are grateful for that.
“Since he became the Senator representing Southern Kaduna Senatorial District, he has been involved in all our activities, especially fasting, and Sallah periods, and other sundry issues to ensure a hitch free celebration.
“Our children have benefited from his scholarship scheme and Sunday Marshall Katung Social Welfare Intervention Programme and during the Diphtheria outbreak, which began at the Muslim community in Kafanchan, Senator Katung did not only presented the matter on the floor of the house, he bear the financial costs of the treatment of all the patients and also brought in Doctors who are specialists on Diphtheria.
“The Muslim fasting period is fast approaching, and Senator Katung has already asked us to make a trajectory on the food items that he will donate to the Muslim community. In his words, make sure widows, persons with disability, poorest of the poor, poor people, and the aged population are captured first in the list before the clerics.”
A political juggernaut and strong member of the Muslim community in Southern Kaduna, Alh. Ali Fadi said, “Senator Sunday Marshall Katung benevolence is next to none. He keeps doing good to people irrespective of their belief. We, as Muslims from Southern Kaduna, we have so much to thank the Senator for. And for anyone to slight him that he is biased to Muslims in our zone is unacceptable, condemnable, and such person should desist from making such comment because it is unhealthy and mis leading.”
