The Zangon Kataf LG APC leadership formally received Mr. Rijo Shekari, a former candidate for the Kaduna South Senatorial District and currently Senior Legislative Aide to the Deputy President of the Senate. The reception took place at the APC party office in Zonkwa on Thursday, February 13, 2025.

Comrade Markus Bahago, Local Government Chairman of the party, described Rijo as a person with a proven track record who will add significant value to the APC in the LG and beyond. Bahago expressed hope that Rijo would leverage his wealth of experience, network, and connections to enhance the party’s fortunes in the area.

Rijo Shekari stated that he was motivated to join the APC family due to the inclusive governance style of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani. He cited several appointments given to Southern Kaduna by the current administration, as well as the recent assent to Sen. Katung’s bill for the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, as key reasons for his decision.

The Vice Chairman, Zangon Kataf Local Government Council, Hon. Godwin Ishaya Dandaura welcomed Rijo to the APC, describing him as a great harvest for the party. Dandaura expressed confidence that Rijo’s joining would bring positive change to the APC in the area.

The occasion also marked the commissioning of boreholes in Ramai Daji and Kurdan communities, donated by Rijo Shekari’s Kamrum Integrated Farms. The company constructed a new hand-pump and upgraded an old, non-functional borehole to a solar-powered one, respectively, in the two communities as part of its corporate social responsibility.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Rijo Shekari emphasized his desire to continue providing basic amenities, such as water and empowerment, to communities and persons in need. He noted that he learned about the suffering of the communities, who sometimes rely on village streams for water, and felt compelled to assist.

A community leader, Mr. Michael Buzun praised the initiative, describing it as an uncommon humanitarian gesture that will bring relief to the people. Another community leader expressed hope that other well-meaning individuals or groups will embark on similar projects to positively impact the lives of the people.
