Senator Barr. Sunday Marshall Katung has reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots development through a strategic engagement with the leadership and coordinators of Community Development Associations (CDAs) across the Kaduna South Senatorial District.

The meeting, which took place yesterday and was chaired by Elder Likoro Bature, focused on enhancing community-based interventions and promoting sustainable development initiatives throughout the district.

During the session, CDA leaders expressed profound gratitude to Senator Katung for his legislative strides, particularly in championing the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, which will also house a College of Medicine in Manchok. They described the project as a milestone in improving access to quality higher education in the region.

The CDAs also outlined a grassroots initiative to mobilize academic professionals—Professors and Doctors—to offer remedial programs aimed at helping students gain admission into higher institutions. The program seeks to prepare young people across the district to take full advantage of the 18 NUC-accredited applied science courses offered by the new university.

In addition to education, the CDA leadership praised the Senator’s continued collaboration with security agencies, which they said has significantly contributed to community safety amidst ongoing security challenges.

Senator Katung, in his remarks, reiterated his commitment to inclusive governance and assured the CDA leadership of his readiness to support community-led, issue-based interventions. He also pledged to continue advocating for infrastructure projects, youth empowerment initiatives, and employment opportunities throughout the senatorial district.

The meeting underscored the Senator’s strategy of aligning with grassroots stakeholders to amplify community voices and drive development from the bottom up.
