The Southern Kaduna Youth Stakeholders Forum (SKYSF) has disassociated itself from a controversial press statement issued on May 26, allegedly by individuals claiming to represent the youth of Southern Kaduna. The Forum described the release as “reckless” and “unauthorised,” asserting that it was neither sanctioned nor approved by its leadership.
In a strongly worded statement on Wednesday, SKYSF said the publication was “a self-serving outburst, riddled with fabrications and petty political squabbling,” and accused the authors of attempting to mislead the public and sow division in the region.
Most notably, the Forum condemned the attack on Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, insisting that the senator remains a respected figure who has made significant contributions to the development of Southern Kaduna.
“This misleading statement does NOT reflect the stance of SKYSF,” the Forum said. “It sought to unjustly tarnish the reputation of Distinguished Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, a leader whose contributions to our region are undeniable and commendable.”
SKYSF reaffirmed its commitment to unity, peace, and development, warning against politicising development efforts in the region. It also announced the indefinite suspension of its Director of Research & Documentation, who has been referred to the Forum’s Disciplinary Committee for further action.
“Our mission is clear — to galvanise both state and non-state actors in a collective pursuit of sustainable development, unity, and progress for Southern Kaduna,” the statement added.
The group urged citizens to support Senator Katung and other leaders to ensure that the remaining years of their mandates are productive and impactful.
In a show of solidarity, the Forum extended its appreciation to several national and regional leaders for their contributions to the Southern Kaduna cause, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Uba Sani, Chief of Defence Staff General CG Gwabin, and Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah.
“Southern Kaduna must not be reduced to a battleground for selfish interests,” the Forum declared. “Now, more than ever, our people need unity, strategic action, and bold leadership.”
The statement was jointly signed by the Forum’s President, Engr. Moses Katagwam, FNSE, and Press Secretary, Barr. John Duniya.
