In a significant step towards boosting innovation and economic development in Southern Kaduna, Senator Barr. Sunday Marshall Katung has formally facilitated the release of a prime land parcel along Madakiya Access Road in Jama’a Local Government Area to the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI).

The land, located at Plot No. 1, Road G on TPO 450, is designated for the establishment of a Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) – Kafanchan extension. The initiative aims to drive research commercialization, youth entrepreneurship, and industrial development in the Kaduna South Senatorial District.
In a letter dated April 14, 2025, the Director General of NBTI, Dr. Kazeem Kolawole Raji, acknowledged receipt of Senator Katung’s earlier correspondence and lauded the Senator’s “generous contribution,” noting that it would enhance the Technology Incubation Programme (TIP) and support broader federal innovation efforts.

“To facilitate proper documentation and investment,” Dr. Raji wrote, “we kindly request the title documents and all relevant papers for the said plot… to ensure clear legal ownership and enable effective deployment of federal resources.”
Senator Katung responded affirmatively in a follow-up letter dated April 22, 2025. In it, he confirmed the initiation of the legal processes for a formal Deed of Grant and included all necessary title and supporting documents.
“I appreciate your recommendation and have attached the relevant documents to facilitate the process,” the Senator stated.
The development of the TIC-Kafanchan extension is expected to provide vital infrastructure for startups and small businesses, spur job creation, and strengthen the region’s capacity for science, technology, and innovation-driven growth.
This initiative marks another milestone in Senator Katung’s ongoing efforts to attract federal development projects to Southern Kaduna and empower local communities through strategic partnerships and legislative engagement.
