In a renewed effort to foster peace and development across the region, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, met today with the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) in Southern Kaduna.
The meeting, described as a deliberate peace-building initiative, focused on the role of religious leaders in promoting unity, moral values, and grassroots development in the senatorial district.
Speaking during the meeting, Senator Katung appealed to both Christian and Muslim leaders to continue preaching the message of peace and unity across Kaduna State, especially in the often-volatile Southern Kaduna region.

“Our senatorial district stands to witness greater growth and development if we continue to live in peace and harmony,” Katung stated. “Peace is the hallmark of development, and I urge our religious leaders to remain steadfast in advocating for mutual respect and coexistence.”
The senator also expressed gratitude to those offering prayers on his behalf and for the success of his mandate, noting that the progress recorded so far would not have been possible without their spiritual support.
Highlighting his legislative focus, Katung reiterated his commitment to tackling poverty through the promotion of small-scale enterprises and skill acquisition programs that can empower constituents and drive economic growth.
In their separate remarks, the leadership of CAN and JNI commended Senator Katung for his inclusive leadership and vision for a peaceful and prosperous Southern Kaduna. They pledged their continued support and prayers for the senator and the region’s development.
Senator Katung concluded by thanking both religious bodies for their partnership, describing their unity as a symbol of hope for a better future in Kaduna South.
