A socio-political group under the aegis of Pathfinders Express Support for Senator Katung has lauded recent gains in the fight against insecurity in Southern Kaduna, attributing the progress to collaboration among federal and state authorities as well as the contributions of Senator Sunday Marshall Katung.
Speaking at a press briefing in Kaduna on Friday, the Convener of the group, Habila Isah Kayit, noted that for years insecurity had stifled development and destabilized communities across the region. He, however, observed that recent months have witnessed relative calm, thanks to coordinated military operations, government backing, and effective representation at the Senate.
Kayit described Senator Katung as a “bridge-builder and strategic leader” who has persistently pushed for stronger security interventions at the national level while maintaining close engagement with local communities.
> “Security is the foundation of every meaningful development. For years, Southern Kaduna suffered unimaginable losses, but today we are witnessing real progress because of the synergy between the Chief of Defence Staff, Governor Uba Sani, and our Senator, Sunday Marshall Katung,” Kayit stated. “He is not just representing us in Abuja; he is working hand-in-hand with the right institutions to ensure our people live in peace and can pursue their livelihoods without fear.”
The group said the improved security climate has rekindled economic activities, boosted community confidence, and attracted greater federal presence in the area. They added that Senator Katung’s efforts to harmonize actions between federal and state authorities underscore his commitment to prioritizing the region’s interest above partisan considerations.
Kayit stressed that sustaining the gains requires continuity in leadership, likening Katung to a “key player” in a decisive match.
> “It is unreasonable to change your best player in the middle of a crucial game when he is delivering results. What we need now is to rally behind Senator Katung so that the current momentum in tackling insecurity and driving development is not lost,” he said.
The Pathfinders pledged to mobilize more support for leaders who demonstrate vision, courage, and capacity to address pressing challenges. According to them, Katung’s leadership signals a rebirth anchored on peace, security, and sustainable development.
They further called on the people of Southern Kaduna to unite behind their senator, stressing that only through collective ownership of the process can the region consolidate its current peace and enjoy the dividends of democracy.
