The peace of U/Kaninkon in Mile 1, Kaninkon Chiefdom, Jema’a Local Government Area, was violently disrupted late Sunday evening following an unprovoked attack that claimed the life of a young resident, Musa Shock.

In a statement on Monday, the Member representing Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Daniel Amos, described the incident as “sad and condemnable,” noting that it was a painful reminder of the security challenges still confronting communities in the area.

Amos, while extending his condolences to the bereaved family, the U/Kaninkon community, His Highness Tum Nikyob, and the people of Jema’a LGA, urged residents to resist the temptation of taking laws into their own hands.

> “Retaliation only deepens wounds and worsens the cycle of violence. I urge our people to remain calm and law-abiding,” he said.

The lawmaker called on the government and security agencies to launch a thorough investigation into the attack, apprehend the perpetrators, and restore public confidence in the safety of the people.

“Jema’a and Sanga deserve peace, and those who choose the path of violence must face the full weight of the law,” Amos stressed.

He further appealed for unity, vigilance, and a renewed commitment to peace and brotherhood, expressing confidence that justice will be done and peace will prevail.
