Tagama in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area and Kilong Ribang in Kauru Local Government Area, have received new solar-powered boreholes, bringing relief to hundreds of residents who have struggled with limited access to clean water.
The projects were facilitated through private donations from long-time partners who continue to support community development initiatives in the state.
According to the project initiator, Rev. Fr. William Kaura Abba. the gesture to Kilong Ribang was inspired by a long-standing relationship with the community, dating back to December 2019 during a visit to officiate a wedding. “Having been to the community and seen things for myself, I didn’t think twice when Andrew Zachariah Tanko reached out to request support,” he said.

Tagama community also holds a personal significance. As his mother’s birthplace, the initiator noted that he has visited the area frequently and understands its water challenges firsthand. “This community gave me my mother, and I owe it to them to offer this important resource,” he added.
The borehole interventions were made possible through the contributions of Bernadette & Gordon and Patrick & Marie Dupoux—supporters who have collectively funded multiple projects in Nigerian communities. This marks Bernadette and Gordon’s second donation and the Dupoux family’s third.
Technical support for the installations was provided pro bono by Engr. Alex Bwanyin, whose commitment to giving back has been repeatedly acknowledged by the project team.
“With God’s help, we will continue to touch lives one community at a time,” the initiator said, expressing gratitude for the donors’ continued confidence and the impact of collaborative efforts.
Residents of both communities are expected to begin enjoying uninterrupted access to safe drinking water immediately.
