The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukayode, has pledged institutional support to ensure the successful takeoff of the Federal University of Applied Sciences (FUAS) in Kachia, Kaduna South Senatorial District.

Speaking during an inspection visit to the newly designated FUAS site, Mr. Olukayode reiterated the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to transparency, accountability, and good governance. He said the President’s directive to allocate the EFCC facility for the university’s establishment reflects a paradigm shift from previous administrations where public assets were often sold off cheaply to private individuals.
“After handing over this property in Abuja, as instructed by Mr. President, my visit here today is to demonstrate to Nigerians that the facility is being used for the purpose for which it was approved,” Olukayode said.
He emphasized that the decision to site the university in Southern Kaduna was a deliberate move to bring federal presence to a long-neglected region.

“Mr. President’s vision is clear — that the people of Southern Kaduna, and by extension Kaduna State and Nigeria as a whole, must benefit from the fight against corruption by converting seized properties into public assets that add value to citizens’ lives,” he said.
Olukayode expressed confidence in the intellectual capacity of the region, noting that Southern Kaduna boasts over 200 professors. “This region deserves additional federal university,” he stated, adding that he would do everything within his power to ensure that any outstanding needs for the takeoff of FUAS are addressed.

Also speaking during the visit, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, who represents the Kaduna South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, expressed deep gratitude to President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Governor Uba Sani, and all stakeholders who played a role in making FUAS a reality.
“I can’t thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu enough,” Senator Katung said. “To me, this university feels like a state creation for Southern Kaduna. It is the first true federal presence in the zone, and I feel fulfilled.”
The establishment of FUAS marks a significant milestone in addressing historical marginalization and expanding access to tertiary education in Southern Kaduna.
