A Nigerian based in Ireland and Green Party flagbearer for the Councillor seat of Galway City East in the coming election, Joyce Mathias, advised her followers via her social media handle (Facebook) to appreciate each other’s talent and not to be envious.
She made the declaration over the weekend in a short piece, entitled: “MOHBAD AND THE REST OF US.”
The piece reads:
As I observed from afar, Nigerians  across the world are mourning the late Nigerian music star, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba known with the stage name Mohbad. Different people hold different opinions about what led to his de***e. Some  blamed his close associates for  b**ying him until he took his last breath.
The regrets  of not paying  attention  to him even when he cried out openly for help is painful. It is heartbreaking  to see some of the people  that were sharing  his posts  and crying  out for Justice  for the deceased, they seemed not to realise  they are currently  perpetrating  the same cruelty to their close associates the way it was done to Mohbad.
Why are we pretentious? If the fundamentals of our activism  is really  about  the  people, then the practice  begins  with  people within  our circles  or contacts.
If we are truly confident  of our abilities  or competence, then we won’t  be mean, envious, or try to undermine the capacities  of  those in our circles or contacts. Mohbad was pushed to the brink probably by those who were envious of him. Why do people choose to feel insecure  about the shining lights  of others?
You should have a change of mind if you are in the fold of those who feel that way. Your light will not automatically shine by just merely dimming others brightness. Those who frustrated Mohbad to death can never inherit his talent. A lesson for all of us.
The world is so large, the window of opportunities for us to explore our talents and gifts are so wide enough to accomodate all of us. Why then the envy? We’re  gifted in different  ways, appreciate  your  strengths and that of others, and abstain  from the temptation  of  envy or the  thoughts  of  having  dominance  over everyone  you come in contact  with.
Because  some persons  are really  gifted, and no matter  how much you try to hate  them, they’ll just keep rising. Instead of envying them or emitting  negative  energy, leverage  on their talents for the betterment  of  our communities/country.
Imole! Imole!! Imole!!!
