The Joint Revenue Board (JRB) has announced the immediate abolition of road stickers across the country, warning motorists to resist and report any attempt to forcefully issue such stickers.
The decision was contained in a communiqué issued at the Board’s 158th meeting held on December 9 and 10, 2025, in Abuja. The communiqué, signed by the Chairman, Dr. Zacch Adedeji, and the Executive Secretary, Mr. Olusegun Adesokan, directed security agencies to dismantle illegal roadblocks used for the collection of taxes and levies.
The JRB called on the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to eliminate non-state actors involved in illegal revenue collection along road transport corridors.
The Board also urged states to fast-track the passage of the Harmonised Taxes and Levies (Approved List for Collection) Bill to ensure uniform application of taxes at the sub-national level.
It commended the Federal Government’s ongoing fiscal and tax reforms, noting their potential to boost revenue mobilisation, improve ease of doing business and strengthen fiscal sustainability nationwide.
