The empowerment programme, which took place in Kafanchan, saw each beneficiary receive a cash grant, a bag of rice and a wrapper, aimed at easing economic hardship and restoring dignity during the festive season.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Adams said the initiative was inspired by his personal experience, having been raised by a widowed mother following the death of his father over four decades ago. He expressed concern over the rising number of widows in Kaduna State, describing it as a tragic consequence of the insecurity that previously afflicted parts of the state.

The KADIRS chairman commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for their efforts in restoring peace, stability and hope across the state and the country.

In her remarks, the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, lauded Adams for extending support to vulnerable and underserved women, noting that the initiative went beyond the distribution of palliatives to restoring dignity and inspiring hope among widows.

They urged the beneficiaries to remain united, support one another and contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities.

The President of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) and Vice President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Titus Amba, supported the initiative with a monetary donation, while a former Commissioner of the National Population Commission, Dr. Abdulmalik Durunguwa, commended Adams for the gesture. They called on well-meaning individuals to emulate the initiative and also expressed appreciation to Governor Uba Sani for appointing Adams as KADIRS chairman, describing the appointment as timely.

They urged residents, irrespective of tribe, religion or political affiliation, to embrace peaceful coexistence for the progress of Kaduna State and Nigeria.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Grace Victor and Rhoda Ibrahim expressed gratitude to Adams for the support, saying the gesture made them feel seen and valued. They offered prayers for God’s blessings upon him and wished him continued strength to uplift the less privileged.
