A public affairs analyst, Edward John Auta, has dismissed allegations suggesting that supporters of Senator Sunday Marshall Katung are behind criticisms of Governor Uba Sani and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing such claims as misleading and divisive.
In a statement on Thursday, Auta criticized a social media post by Pompo Pomposiya Jonah, which alleged that individuals critical of the governor or president while supporting Sen. Katung were acting on the senator’s instructions. He said the claims were an attempt to blackmail the senator and sow discord within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Auta stressed that Sen. Katung cannot be held responsible for the opinions or actions of individuals who support him, noting that the mandates and political roles of the senator, the governor, and the president are distinct. He added that supporters of political leaders often express independent views that should not be misconstrued as coordinated attacks.
He further recalled that some loyalists and appointees of Governor Uba Sani have, in the past, openly criticized Sen. Katung and other representatives from Kaduna State, without any assumption that such actions were directed by the governor.
The analyst also accused Jonah of previously making unfounded attacks against the Commissioner for Local Governments, Sadiq Mamman Lagos, whom he described as a close and trusted ally of Governor Uba Sani.
Auta urged party members to refrain from what he termed “cheap political propaganda” and instead work toward unity within the APC. He maintained that Sen. Katung, Hon. Mamman Lagos, and other party leaders remain loyal to the APC and committed to the second-term aspirations of President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani.
