Two women groups in Southern Kaduna have expressed support for Senator Sunday Marshall Katung following comments allegedly made by the member representing Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency, Hon. Daniel Amos, during the senator’s second term declaration event in Kafanchan.
Hon. Amos, while speaking at the inauguration of Senator Katung’s campaign team and declaration for a second term bid held on Saturday at the Kafanchan Township Stadium, reportedly stated that the senator had told him he was “broken” and questioned his ability to continue.
According to Amos, he encouraged the senator and reminded him of their shared commitment to the development of Southern Kaduna.
Reacting to the remarks, the groups: Action Ladies and Women in Politics, urged Senator Katung not to be discouraged or distracted by the weight of challenges confronting him.
In a joint statement signed by the leaders of the groups, Agatha Augustine and Caro Maikarfi, the women described leadership as a difficult responsibility that is often misunderstood or wrongly interpreted.
They commended Katung for his leadership efforts and urged him to remain focused on his vision for Southern Kaduna.
“Southern Kaduna is blessed to have you and we believe the solution to most of our challenges lies with God and your ability. This is why we are praying for you and also urging you to remain firm,” the statement read.
The groups further encouraged the senator to remain steadfast and continue pursuing developmental initiatives for the region despite political pressures and differing opinions.
