The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State has recorded a major political boost following the defection of former Senior Legislative Aide to the Senator representing Kaduna South, Iliya Wilson, from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), alongside thousands of his supporters.

The defection, which is seen as a significant political development in Southern Kaduna, took place at Gauta Community, Wilson’s hometown in Barde Ward, Jema’a Local Government Area.

The ceremony attracted APC leaders, stakeholders and supporters, who welcomed Wilson and his followers into the ruling party.

The development is expected to strengthen the APC’s grassroots structure in Jema’a and surrounding communities, particularly as political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Wilson’s defection comes amid growing political realignments in Kaduna State, with political actors repositioning themselves and consolidating alliances ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Party officials described the development as a significant addition to the APC’s growing political strength in Southern Kaduna, expressing optimism that the influx of new members would further enhance the party’s mobilisation capacity and electoral prospects.

The movement of Wilson and thousands of his supporters from the ADC to the APC underscores the changing political dynamics in the region as parties intensify efforts to consolidate their support bases.
