Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Barrister Sunday Marshall Katung, has expressed deep appreciation to his constituents for their continued support, prayers and confidence in his leadership, describing their trust as the driving force behind recent development milestones recorded in the district.
In a statement to his constituents, Katung announced that he had secured a five-year partnership with Project C.U.R.E., a United States-based international humanitarian organisation, to supply medical equipment valued at about ₦8 billion to general hospitals across Kaduna South.
According to the senator, the partnership is aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery through the provision of modern medical equipment, medical supplies and capacity-building programmes for healthcare workers.
He noted that the initiative complements the efforts of Governor Uba Sani to improve healthcare services in the state and aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritises access to quality healthcare nationwide.
The lawmaker also disclosed that the Kaduna State Executive Council has concluded arrangements to hand over the Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa Memorial Hospital to the Federal Government to enable the take-off of a Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in the area.
Katung described the decision as historic, saying it would significantly improve access to specialised medical care for residents of Southern Kaduna and beyond.
Beyond healthcare, the senator highlighted other major achievements recorded through collaboration between the Federal Government and the Kaduna State Government. These include the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, with plans for a College of Medicine in Manchok, as well as the siting of a Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan.
He further revealed that both governments have concluded arrangements to boost ginger production and processing in Kachia Local Government Area through an investment exceeding ₦40 billion, with the Kaduna State Government already committing ₦20 billion to the project.
When completed, Katung said the facility would become the largest ginger processing hub in Africa, creating thousands of jobs and significantly stimulating the economy of the senatorial district.
The senator attributed these achievements to strategic collaboration with Governor Uba Sani, describing the partnership as people-centred and focused on improving the lives of rural communities.
Reaffirming his commitment to service, Katung pledged to continue advocating for the interests of Kaduna South and addressing the concerns of his constituents.
He also called on Christians and Muslims to use the ongoing Lenten and Ramadan seasons as an opportunity to strengthen unity, promote interfaith harmony and uphold shared values of faith, self-discipline and charity.
Katung thanked the people of Kaduna South for their trust and support, assuring them that more development initiatives would follow in the coming months.
