The Chairman of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Engr. Bege Joseph Gaiya, has provided five new transformers to communities across the local government as part of efforts to improve electricity supply and stimulate rural economic activities.

The intervention has already seen the upgrade of transformers in Narom and Mabuhu communities from 300KVA to 500KVA and from 200KVA to 500KVA respectively.

According to the chairman, three other communities—Afana, Ungwan Rana Ashafa and Kurdan—are also expected to receive new transformers soon.
Gaiya said the interventions were part of his administration’s commitment to providing critical social infrastructure and improving electricity supply in rural communities.

He explained that the upgrade and provision of transformers were necessary because existing facilities in some communities had become overstretched as a result of increased demand, making it difficult to adequately meet the electricity needs of residents.
He also identified vandalism and theft of electrical infrastructure as some of the challenges affecting power supply in the communities.
The chairman further disclosed that his administration would embark on additional projects aimed at improving electricity infrastructure from Ungwan Rana Ashafa through Kamuru Ikulu to Ungwan Pah, describing the initiatives as part of efforts to boost rural electrification and support small-scale businesses.
Gaiya urged community leaders, residents and other stakeholders to take ownership of the transformers and ensure their protection against vandalism and theft.
Reacting to the intervention, the Dogarin Hakimin Zonkwa, Anthony Maigari, thanked the chairman for responding to the electricity needs of the communities. He particularly acknowledged the role of Edward Auta, a son of Narom and Senior Special Adviser to Governor Uba Sani on Industrial Training and Development, in facilitating attention to the community’s needs.
Similarly, the Dakaci Sarkin Mabuhu, Kambai Patrick, who spoke on behalf of the Mabuhu community, appreciated the chairman for responding to what he described as the community’s long-standing clarion call for improved electricity supply.
The two communities expressed appreciation for the intervention and pledged to reciprocate what they described as the gesture of the APC administration during the forthcoming general election.
