The Zango-Kataf/Jaba Coalition for All Progressives Accountability (CAPC) has cautioned the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against what it described as an alleged plan to impose the incumbent member representing Zango/Jaba Federal Constituency, Hon. Amos Gwamna, for a third term.

In a statement signed by CAPC Coordinator, Barr. Maikano Jerry Mendous, and Secretary, Comrade Danladi Ishaku and issued to Gurara Accord on Wednesday, the coalition warned that such a move could trigger internal crisis, deepen divisions within the party, and weaken its electoral prospects ahead of future elections.

CAPC noted that the political atmosphere in the constituency remains sensitive, with grassroots stakeholders closely monitoring developments ahead of the party’s primaries. It stressed that any attempt to sideline internal consultation or impose a candidate would likely face resistance from party members.
The group argued that imposition has historically led to negative electoral outcomes, urging the APC to uphold fairness, equity, and internal democracy.

“Imposition will backfire. The people of Zango/Jaba are politically conscious and will not accept decisions taken without broad consultation and consensus,” the statement said.

The coalition also alleged that Hon. Gwamna had earlier indicated interest in contesting the Kaduna South Senatorial seat and encouraged other aspirants to pursue the House of Representatives ticket, before allegedly reversing his position. It described the development as “politically confusing” and capable of heightening tensions within the party.

CAPC further linked recent political developments, including the defection of a former aide, Rijo Shekari, to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to what it described as growing dissatisfaction within the APC.
It raised concerns over reports that the lawmaker may be considered for an automatic ticket, warning that such a move could provoke backlash among party stakeholders and aspirants.

The coalition called on APC leaders at both state and national levels, as well as the Kaduna State Governor, to intervene and ensure a level playing field for all aspirants.
According to the group, only a transparent and credible primary process would guarantee unity and strengthen the party’s chances in the constituency.

CAPC reiterated its commitment to accountability and participatory democracy, urging party leaders to act swiftly to avert what it described as a looming political crisis in Zango/Jaba.
