The Kaduna State Chapter of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) and representatives of the Twenty Indigenous Tribes of Kauru and Lere in concert with Gaskiya Network have declared their support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani in the 2027 general elections.
The groups also endorsed Vice President Kashim Shettima and Comrade Jerry Adams as their respective running mates, expressing support for continuity in governance at the federal and Kaduna State levels.
The endorsements were announced on Friday during a joint press conference organised and sponsored by Gaskiya Network (ASUJ) 2027 at its office in Kaduna.
ANCOPSS, Kaduna State Chapter, said its position was informed by its assessment of the Uba Sani administration’s policies and interventions in the education sector, particularly those relating to school infrastructure, teachers’ welfare, capacity development and access to basic education.
The association highlighted the state government’s free basic education policy, the reported extension of teachers’ service tenure to 40 years of service or 65 years of age, as applicable, and the implementation of rural allowances for teachers serving in remote communities.
It also acknowledged the approval of a ₦72,000 minimum wage for Kaduna State civil servants, including eligible secondary school teachers, describing these measures as significant considerations in its assessment of the administration’s performance.
In its endorsement declaration, signed by its state president, Jonathan Danbaki, ANCOPSS said its support for Governor Uba Sani’s second-term aspiration was principally based on the administration’s policies and interventions in education.
Similarly, the Twenty Indigenous Tribes of the Kauru-Lere Development Association, represented by its president, Comrade D. D. Randy, declared their collective support for the continuation of the APC administrations at the federal and state levels.
The association said its endorsement followed consultations and deliberations on governance, political leadership and development priorities affecting communities across Kauru and Lere.
It identified peacebuilding, security, infrastructure, transportation, agriculture, education and human capital development as key considerations informing its position.
On peace and political inclusion, the association acknowledged Governor Uba Sani’s reconciliation initiative of February 25, which it said sought to promote cooperation and understanding across political divides in Kaduna State.
According to the group, dialogue, reconciliation and inclusive governance remain essential to peaceful coexistence and sustainable development, particularly in communities with diverse ethnic, religious and political interests.
The association also called attention to the need to strengthen security arrangements across Kaduna State, stressing the importance of protecting lives and property through improved security measures, modern technology and stronger collaboration among security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders and residents.
It further emphasised the importance of infrastructure development and efficient transportation systems in connecting rural communities to commercial centres, facilitating trade and improving economic opportunities.
On agriculture, the group noted that farming remains a major source of livelihood across Kauru and Lere, urging sustained attention to agricultural productivity, rural development, education, skills acquisition and youth empowerment.
The association maintained that continuity in governance would provide an opportunity to consolidate ongoing development initiatives and advance programmes addressing the needs of its constituent communities.
Both groups acknowledged the role of Gaskiya Network (ASUJ) 2027, coordinated by Philibus Audu Nwamagyi, PhD, in facilitating consultations and bringing stakeholders together for the joint press conference.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to community development, peaceful coexistence and constructive participation in the democratic process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsements come as political stakeholders across Kaduna State and other parts of the country begin positioning themselves ahead of the next general elections.
