As the 2024 People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Kaduna State Congress inches closer, the state zoning committee led by Sen. Ibrahim Khalid Mustapha has zoned the Chairmanship position to zone 3 and the Zoning Committee in zone 3 led by Barr. Mark Jacob micro-zoned the Chairmanship to Jema’a Local Government Area of the State.
One of the Chairmanship candidates from Zone 3 and Jema’a LGA, Hon. Edward Percy Masha, yesterday in Kaduna officially launched his campaign team to contest for the position of Kaduna State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). This momentous event, attended by party faithful, stakeholders, and supporters from across the state, marks a critical step in his journey to secure the leadership role within the party.

In his speech, Masha laid out his vision for revitalizing the PDP in Kaduna State. He emphasized the importance of unity within the party, highlighting the need to strengthen internal structures and foster inclusivity. Masha pointed out that, in the past, divisions and lack of cohesion within the party had limited its full potential in delivering effective opposition and ultimately winning elections. His platform, he noted, is centered on fostering a renewed sense of purpose among party members.
“Kaduna State PDP needs a leader who understands the pulse of the people, and I am that leader. I have the experience, the commitment, and the vision to take our party to greater heights,” Masha declared. His campaign aims to energize the base, promote youth participation, and ensure gender inclusivity, making the party more representative of the diverse population of Kaduna.
Masha, a seasoned politician with years of experience both within the PDP and in public service, brings a wealth of knowledge to the race. He has held various leadership positions and has been involved in grassroots mobilization efforts, which have earned him a reputation as a dedicated and approachable leader. During the inauguration event, speakers praised his integrity, leadership skills, and deep commitment to the development of both the PDP and Kaduna State.

Key party stakeholders, including former executives and influential local leaders, expressed their confidence in Masha’s ability to lead the party successfully. They highlighted his track record of uniting different factions within the PDP and building coalitions that have strengthened the party in various elections. Masha’s focus on bridging the generational gap within the party was also noted as a vital component of his campaign.
In a bid to attract new members and revitalize party structures at the grassroots level, Masha announced plans for a comprehensive strategy. This strategy would involve organizing political education programs, supporting local candidates, and fostering closer ties with PDP national leadership to ensure Kaduna is at the forefront of national party discourse.
“The upcoming elections are not just about leadership; they are about the future of Kaduna State. Our party must be prepared, organized, and ready to serve the people in ways we never have before,” Masha stated, underscoring the importance of internal preparedness ahead of 2027 elections.
The event concluded with enthusiastic chants of support from party loyalists, signaling strong backing for Masha’s campaign. With the contest for the PDP chairmanship now underway, Hon. Edward Percy Masha’s candidacy adds significant weight to the race, as he seeks to lead the party to electoral success and influence policy direction in Kaduna State.
As the race heats up, the PDP and political observers alike will be watching closely to see how Masha’s vision for a more united and forward-thinking party resonates with voters in Kaduna and beyond.
