Over the weekend in Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, a group under the auspices of Coalition of Concerned Southern Kaduna People and support groups organised a press in conference.

The organisers ushered encomium on the reverred senator, saying, based on the achievements of the senator in the 10th Assembly, the senator has over 100% chances of reelection if he wishes to recontest the senate seat come 2027.
According to them, we gathered to express our deepest gratitude and unwavering confidence in our distinguished senator, Sunday Marshall Katung, for his instrumental role in securing a university for our beloved region, Southern Kaduna.

The group went further saying that his unique and exemplary leadership style, marked by visionary legislation, has been the catalyst for this remarkable achievement. Through his tireless efforts, Sen. Katung has demonstrated an unshakeable commitment to the advancement of our region, and we are forever grateful. His dedication to the well-being and prosperity of our people is a testament to his exceptional character and leadership.
He has been vocal on issues affecting his constituency, moving motions, and sponsoring bills that address the needs of his people. These include a motion on the outbreak of the dreaded diphtheria disease in Southern Kaduna and a motion for federal government intervention to aid ginger farmers following the outbreak of the ginger blight disease in 2024. This intervention facilitated the release of 1.6 billion by the FGN in aid to the affected farmers.

There have also been several other interventions facilitated by the senator in different sectors and LGAs, despite the challenge of being a first-termer or non-principal officer or chairman of a committee.
For example, the senator recently commissioned a rehabilitated rural hospital in Fadan Ninzo, modern science laboratory at Government Secondary School, Fadan Kamantan; a digital economy centre in Kafanchan; training and empowerment programmes in agriculture, shoe-making, and other vocations for farmers and artisans in the zone; and about 40 boreholes, including 9 solar-powered ones, donated and about to commence installation in the Federal College of Statistics, Manchok, Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya, College of Nursing, Kafanchan, as well as more than thirty other communities.
The senator has also facilitated the procurement and distribution of about 10,000 bags of fertilizer in the last two farming seasons, several trucks of rice to the poor, free drugs to some healthcare facilities, payment of scholarship to over 500 indigent students of tertiary institutions, and provision of 100 million naira grant for the poor and vulnerable, which is being implemented in batches, among others.
The impact of Sen. Katung’s work, particularly in securing the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia will be felt for generations to come, as the approved university will provide admission opportunities and jobs for the indigenes of the state, improving the economy and physical conditions of the district. Thus far, securing this university has had positive impacts on the economy and progress of our region, evident in the gradual springing up of economic activities in and around Kachia LGA and environs.
Surely, SMK’s pact with the people of southern Kaduna has been fruitful and blessed. We boldly say that our people have never had it this good with any of his predecessors. As we celebrate this milestone, we reaffirm our trust in Sen. Katung’s ability to continue driving positive change in our region. We are confident that his unwavering passion, coupled with his legislative expertise, will continue to yield fruitful results for our community.
We also hope that the senator will keep up the good work and that more leaders like Sen. Katung will emerge to inspire and work with others to transform our communities, southern Kaduna, Kaduna State, Nigeria, and indeed the entire world.
