The Senior Legislative Aide to Senator Sunday Marshall Katung in the 10th Assembly, Hon. Wilson Iliya, dismissed the rumour making rounds that he has expressed desire to contest the most powerful office in Kaduna State.
In a press statement he signed and made available to Gurara Accord, he said, I want to sincerely thank everyone who has reached out, publicly or privately, with words of encouragement, solidarity, and overwhelming support following my recent social media post expressing that the 2027 Governorship race is on my mind.
The genuine outpouring of love and positive concern from friends, associates, political stakeholders, and well-meaning citizens across party lines is deeply humbling. It is a testament to our shared hope for a brighter future for our dear state. Your trust means a lot to me.
However, I feel it is important to make some clarifications. At the moment, my focus remains fully on my official responsibilities as the Senior Legislative Aide and Chief of Staff to the Distinguished Senator, Barr. Sunday Marshall Katung, representing Kaduna South Senatorial District. Together with the Senator and our committed team, we are working hard to deliver on our mandate and meet the expectations of our constituents.
Let me also clearly state that the Distinguished Senator and other elected leaders from our zone should not be misconstrued as being behind, or influencing, any perceived aspiration. They remain fully committed to their current mandates and focused on service delivery.
While the future may hold many possibilities, for now, we stay grounded in the present — serving with integrity, loyalty, and commitment.
Once again, thank you all for your show of support. Let’s continue to work together in unity, as partners in progress.
