The Kaduna State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) today conducted a successful screening exercise for aspirants seeking the party’s ticket ahead of the forthcoming bye-elections across key constituencies in the state.
Held at the PDP State Secretariat in Kaduna, the screening was presided over by the Kaduna State 2025 bye-elections Committee led by the chairman of the committee, Dr. Munir Ibrahim Ruma (Katsina). Other members of the committee include: Hon. Bashir Umar Mohammed (Katsina) as the secretary, Mike Isyaku (Kano), Alh Auwalu Dahiru Danja (Katsina) and Hon Salisu Saleh Indirawa (Jigawa) .
The Screening Committee, who are seasoned party officials, conducted a meticulous review of aspirants’ documents to ensure compliance with both constitutional requirements and the PDP’s internal standards of integrity, competence, and credibility.
The Kaduna State PDP Chairman, Chief Hon. Edward Masha who welcomed the aspirants and emphasized the importance of the process in strengthening the party’s internal democracy.
In his remarks, Chief Masha commended the aspirants for offering themselves for service and urged them to approach the exercise with unity, discipline, and loyalty. He described the screening as a “family affair” meant to reinforce party cohesion and ensure only qualified candidates emerge.
Chief Masha, who also serves as Chairman of the Forum of PDP State Chairmen in Northern Nigeria and the FCT, reiterated the party’s commitment to fairness, transparency, and merit in the selection process.
He highlighted the significance of the upcoming bye-elections, which cover the following constituencies:
- Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency (House of Representatives),
- Zaria Kewaye (Kaduna State House of Assembly, Zaria LGA),
- Basawa (Kaduna State House of Assembly, Sabon Gari LGA).
Describing the bye-elections as a strategic opportunity to consolidate PDP’s growing presence in Kaduna, Chief Masha urged members and supporters to remain united and focused.
The exercise was conducted in a peaceful and transparent manner, with full participation from party stakeholders, local government representatives, and observers.
As the PDP continues preparations ahead of the bye-elections, party leaders have expressed confidence in the strength of their aspirants and the unity of purpose within the party.
