grassroots student movement known as Students and Youths for SMK has continued to make waves across Southern Kaduna under the leadership of Comrade David Thomas Yashim. The group, comprising passionate student supporters and advocates of Senator Sunday Marshall Katung (SMK), is dedicated to empowering young people through civic education, mentorship, and political participation.
Comrade David, a frontline unionist, social justice advocate, and champion of good governance, has built the organization into a vibrant platform for youth engagement. Through informed advice, broad-based consultations, and peaceful mobilization, the movement enables students and young people to participate meaningfully in mainstream politics.
With active representation across all eight local government areas of Southern Kaduna, the group ensures inclusiveness and regional solidarity. Its activities include organizing campus outreach programs, leadership training, and advocacy campaigns promoting transparency, accountability, and social justice.
According to the leadership of the organization, Students and Youths for SMK aims to build a sustainable structure that supports long-term mentorship and prepares emerging youth leaders for community service and political leadership.
The movement continues to position itself as a unifying force for young people seeking positive change in Southern Kaduna, rallying behind the vision and values of Senator Sunday Marshall Katung (SMK).
