Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Samuel Atung, has called on the people of Kaduna South Senatorial District to view Senator Sunday Marshall Katung’s recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a strategic political move aimed at securing greater benefits for the people of Southern Kaduna.

In a statement made available to the press, Atung advised constituents to remain calm and constructive in their reactions, stressing that political decisions should be evaluated based on long-term gains rather than emotions or party sentiments.

“The defection should be seen as a means to have a better bargain for our people,” Atung said. “Instead of resorting to unnecessary criticism or becoming attack dogs, we should wish him well and trust that his decision was made in the best interest of Southern Kaduna.”

Atung noted that politics is dynamic and often requires strategic alignment to achieve sustainable development goals. He urged all well-meaning individuals to rally around the Senator and continue supporting his efforts toward ensuring that Southern Kaduna remains politically relevant and economically empowered.
He observed that politics is about who gets what, observing that President Ahmed Bola Tinubu has created the enabling environment for the Senator’s defection, having regards to the pivotal dividends of democracy that has accrued to the people of the zone. He also posited that H.E Governor Uba Sani have opened the political space by running an all inclusive government, compared to our recent experience. He noted and commended the improved security situation in the entire state and other dividends of democracy under the stewardship of Governor Uba Sani.He however, observed that there is still room for improvement, which can only come to fruition by way of massive support and fidelity to those responsible for our improved political fortunes.
