Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and Principal Partner at Gatekeepers Consult, Samuel Atung, has urged young and aspiring lawyers to remain committed to the core ethics of the legal profession, warning against impropriety and double standards in legal practice.
Atung gave the advice over the weekend in an exclusive interview following the Southern Kaduna Lawyers Forum Roundtable Meeting held in Kaduna.
He stressed that integrity, professionalism and adherence to the rule of law remain the foundation of a successful legal career, noting that no lawyer can build lasting credibility without a firm commitment to ethical conduct.
The senior lawyer cautioned young practitioners against compromising professional standards for personal gain, describing acts of impropriety as harmful to both the legal profession and the administration of justice.
He encouraged upcoming lawyers to pursue excellence through hard work, continuous learning and strict observance of the Rules of Professional Conduct, saying these values would distinguish them in the profession and earn them the trust of clients and society.
The Southern Kaduna Lawyers Forum Roundtable Meeting brought together legal practitioners and stakeholders to discuss issues affecting the legal profession and the role of lawyers in promoting justice, unity and development in Southern Kaduna.
