The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd.), has commended the One Million Solidarity Movement for rallying support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, describing the initiative as a demonstration of citizens’ confidence in Nigeria’s future.
Speaking through his representative, Mr. Polycap Gankon at the inauguration of the movement in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, General Musa said democracy flourishes when citizens freely organise themselves to promote good governance, national unity and sustainable development.
He described the movement as more than a political gathering, saying it has become a platform for patriotism, peaceful civic engagement and national cohesion by bringing together people across ethnic, religious and community divides.
The Defence Minister also praised Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for his leadership, commitment to peace and inclusive development, noting that his partnership with President Tinubu has enhanced the delivery of democratic dividends to the people of the state.
General Musa said the Tinubu administration is implementing bold reforms aimed at achieving long-term economic stability, improved national security and sustainable prosperity, adding that the changes require patience and the support of all Nigerians.
On security, he assured citizens that the Armed Forces, working alongside other security and intelligence agencies, remain committed to defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity and protecting lives and property.
According to him, significant progress has been made in tackling terrorism, insurgency, banditry, kidnapping and other forms of criminality, although security challenges still persist.
He called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth and women’s groups, as well as community stakeholders, to continue collaborating with security agencies by providing credible intelligence and promoting peaceful coexistence.
General Musa said the large turnout at the event reflected Nigerians’ preference for unity, hope and constructive engagement over division and negativity. He urged members of the solidarity movement to remain peaceful, law-abiding and committed to national development.
He further encouraged the movement to inspire young Nigerians to embrace nation-building and reject violence, extremism and criminality.
The minister expressed confidence that, under President Tinubu’s leadership and with the support of Governor Uba Sani and other patriotic leaders, Nigeria would continue on the path towards greater peace, security and prosperity.
He commended members of the One Million Solidarity Movement for their patriotism and dedication to strengthening democracy and national unity.
