The Chairman of Kachia Local Government has flagged off the training of 1,000 members of the Coalition of Community-Based Security Organizations (CCBSO) as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots security and support security agencies in tackling insecurity across the area.

The initiative, which aligns with the vision of Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, brings together members of the Kaduna Vigilance Service (KADVS), Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), and National Hunters Association (NHA) to enhance community participation in security operations.

As part of the security intervention, the Kachia Local Government Council distributed walkie-talkies and commissioned the second batch of 20 motorcycles from the 50 motorcycles approved by the Kachia Local Government Security Council for the 2026 security operations. The equipment is expected to improve mobility, communication, and rapid response in communities across the local government.

In addition to the security initiative, the council also launched the 2026 Tree Planting Exercise, distributing 5,000 seedlings to promote environmental sustainability and combat the effects of climate change.

Speaking at the event, the council noted that insecurity-induced displacement has contributed to the loss of livelihoods and increased deforestation, making environmental restoration a key component of community resilience.

The chairman reaffirmed the council’s commitment to Governor Uba Sani’s vision of positioning Kaduna State as a climate champion, stating that future efforts will focus on restoring biodiversity while sustaining community-driven security initiatives.
According to him, lasting peace, environmental restoration, and sustainable development are closely linked, and the local government remains committed to protecting both lives and the environment for the benefit of present and future generations.
