The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State has welcomed over 400 defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) into its fold.
The defectors were received at a ceremony held in Kadiri, Garun Kurama Ward, where they pledged their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The new members were led by a former staunch PDP loyalist, Yahaya Kazah, and Hon. Sunday Bitrus, a prominent Labour Party leader.
Speaking at the event, the defectors expressed confidence in the APC and its leadership, promising to mobilise support for the party across Lere Local Government Area.
They were received on behalf of the party by the Honorary Adviser to the Governor on Domestic Affairs, Hon. Isa Lawal, popularly known as Baba Isa, and the APC Chairman in Lere LGA, Mr. Jonathan Shekarau Ukissa (Dan’Arewa).
The party leadership assured the new members of equal opportunities, inclusiveness and fair treatment, regardless of their political backgrounds.
The development is expected to further strengthen the APC’s grassroots structure in Lere ahead of the 2027 elections.
