The crisis rocking the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State has deepened following the resignation of Samaila Leeman from the party with immediate effect.

Leeman announced his resignation in a letter dated October 11, 2026, addressed to the chairman of the Abbas Ciroma-led faction of the ADC in Sabon Gari Ward, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
In the letter titled “Resignation of Membership,” Leeman said his decision followed consultations with his immediate family and political associates.

He explained that he joined the ADC with the hope of contributing alternative ideas and representation capable of restoring confidence in Nigeria’s democracy and promoting prosperity for all.

However, he expressed disappointment over what he described as resistance to change, systemic corruption and ideological differences within the party.

According to him, the ADC in Kaduna State is currently bedevilled by internal divisions, litigations and weak leadership.

“We do not think our aspiration can be birthed by a political party that is led by three factions, persons of inordinate ambition and ulterior motives,” he stated.

Leeman’s resignation comes amid the leadership crisis and factional divisions within the ADC in Kaduna State, which he identified as major obstacles to achieving his political aspirations.

Despite his decision to leave the party, Leeman acknowledged the contributions of some members, particularly those in the Chikun and Kajuru local government chapters.
He described them as individuals who shared his vision and aspirations for their constituencies, adding that he would continue to cherish the relationships and remain grateful for their support during his time in the party.

The resignation letter was copied to the chairman of the Dr. Katuka Bege-led faction of the ADC in Kaduna State, indicating that the correspondence was also brought to the attention of another faction within the party.
Leeman, however, did not disclose his next political destination or indicate whether he intends to join another political party.
