Yesterday, 6th June, 2024, was a dark gloomy day for the family of Mr. Saul Hashimu, a native of Dingi in Lere, Saminaka Local Government Area(LGA) of Kaduna State, a staff of the Kaduna State Ministry of Health and a resident of No. 10 Lafiya Sarki Street in Ungwan-Maigero, Chikun LGA of the state.
The reason for been distraught by grief is the mysterious death of their 13-year son and brother, Late Wisdom Saul whose gruesome death left him daze, numb with shock, which quelled the peace that their family have been enjoying.
Late Wisdom’s dad narrated the death of his beloved son with sore in his heart while trying to re-enact the scene where Wisdom’s neck was tied to a noose as his still body hanged loose
“1st June, 2024, I was in Zaria when I received information that Wisdom was alleged of stealing my neighbour’s daughter (Miss Hope Danladi) N1000,” he said. “I was also told that Hope called her boyfriend, Segun Samson who identified himself to the Civilian JTF in Dokaji Street in Narayi as a serving soldier at Bodi Camp in Port-Harcourt after brandishing his ID Card for validation.
“This was after Hope called Samson, and he bundled Wisdom and Hope’s younger brother, the two suspects to the civilian JTF office, and he prevailed on the Civilin JTF to disciplines the boys.
“I was further told that the Civilian JTF took the law into their own hands and beat Wisdom. But, beyond my wildest imagination, the Civilian JTF only beat Wisdom to a point of coma and Hope’s younger brother was spared and returned home unscathed and after interrogation at home her younger brother confessd to the crime. When he was searched, N9000 was found in his pocket, and he said he had spent N1000 already. “
Wisdom was severely beaten by the Civilian JTF to the point that he was unable to walk. His legs were shaking. A Civil Defense officer who didn’t want his name mentioned, said, “Because of the condition that I saw Wisdom I had to rushed him to a nearby hospital in Narayi where he received medical attention and reported the matter to the Police at the Barnawa Police division and all the parties involved were invied and statements were taken.”
Wisdom was returned home following medical attention and was recovering fast. However, the story changed for the worse. Yesterday, Thursday, June 2024, the Wisdom body was found hanging on a noose in their compound.
Suddenly, the dynamics of the investigation swiftly changed from theft to homicide. At the time of filing this report, Hope, who went into hiding, was arrested by the police and a manhunt for Segun Samson, and the Civilian JTF is in full swing.
