Defence Minister Pays Condolence Visit to Family of Slain Brigadier General M. Uba

The Honourable Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa (rtd), on Thursday 11th December, 2025 paid a heartfelt condolence visit to the family of Brigadier General Musa Uba, the senior military officer who was killed during an operation in Wajiroko, Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.

During the visit, the Minister expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss, describing Brig. Gen. Uba as a courageous, disciplined, and committed officer who gave his life in the service of the nation. He assured the bereaved family that the Federal Government and the Armed Forces would stand firmly with them in this difficult moment.

Gen. Musa also reaffirmed the government’s resolve to intensify the fight against insurgency and ensure that the sacrifices of fallen heroes like Brig. Gen. Uba are not in vain.

He prayed for the repose of the officer’s soul and comfort for the family, the Nigerian Army, and the entire defence community.

Brigadier General Uba was killed in active duty during a counter-insurgency mission in the Wajiroko area of Damboa, a region that has remained at the frontline of Nigeria’s ongoing battle against terrorism and violent extremism.

Brigadier General Uba was a senior Nigerian Army officer and Commander of the 25 Task Force Brigade. He was tragically ambushed and killed by ISWAP terrorists in Borno State in November 2025.

Gen. Uba initially survived the ambush and called for reinforcement, but was later overwhelmed and killed in action. He was a highly respected frontline commander, Brig. Gen. Uba was celebrated for his courage, professionalism, and dedication to duty. He previously served in United Nations missions and was widely regarded as an officer destined for higher command before his untimely death.
