A fresh political controversy has emerged in Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency following claims that Hon. Beguwa may be reconsidering his earlier decision not to contest against Hon. Dan Amos.
The development, according to a statement attributed to a group, Jema’a/Sanga Concerned Youths, comes after a prior meeting of federal and state appointees from the area held in Abuja, where Beguwa was said to have pledged not to run against Amos.
The group further alleged that Hon. Dan Amos, in a bid to maintain peace and unity, had extended personal support to Beguwa, including a reported sum of ₦10 million and a Toyota Prado vehicle. The gesture, they claimed, was aimed at strengthening family ties and preventing political division within the constituency.
However, recent reports suggesting that Beguwa may resign from his current appointment to join the race have raised concerns among stakeholders, with the group alleging that “unknown forces” could be behind the move.
Describing the situation as a potential threat to unity in the constituency, the group warned that any reversal of earlier commitments could deepen political divisions and disrupt existing cohesion.
They, however, praised Hon. Dan Amos for what they described as his contributions to the development of Jema’a/Sanga, particularly in the areas of healthcare, education, and community projects.
The group called on political stakeholders and party members, especially within the All Progressives Congress (APC), to remain united and vigilant against actions capable of destabilizing the constituency.
Efforts to reach Hon. Beguwa for comments on the allegations were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
