The Southern Kaduna Professionals Forum has endorsed Senator Sunday Marshall Katung for a second term in the Senate, citing what it described as his “visible developmental strides” across Kaduna South Senatorial District.
The endorsement was announced during a meeting between the Forum and the senator in Zonkwa, headquarters of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the Forum’s leader, Arc. Samuel H. Yakubu, said the professionals resolved to support Senator Katung’s return to the National Assembly in the 2027 general elections because of his performance in office.
Yakubu urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Southern Kaduna to present Katung as the party’s candidate, noting that his representation had attracted key federal institutions and projects to the region.
Among the projects highlighted were the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, and the Federal Medical Centre, Kafanchan.
The Forum also pledged to begin mobilization across the eight local government areas in Kaduna South to build grassroots support for the senator’s re-election.
Responding, Senator Katung expressed appreciation for the endorsement, describing it as a vote of confidence in his leadership and service to the people.
He said his re-election ambition was driven by a collective desire to advance the development of Southern Kaduna and consolidate on ongoing achievements.
Katung also urged members of the Forum to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani, stressing that continuity at both the federal and state levels would help sustain ongoing development projects in the region.
“I am in this race for the good of the people of Kaduna South Senatorial District,” the senator said. “Together, we will consolidate on the gains and deliver more results.”
