The Kuturmi Unity Development Association (KUDA) has expressed concern over what it described as government neglect of communities affected by insecurity in Kuturmi and surrounding areas of Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
In a statement signed by its President, Dr. J.D. Ariko, and Publicity Secretary, Hon. Manasseh Samuel, which was issued on Monday, 15th June, 2026, KUDA lamented that Christian worshippers abducted during an Easter Sunday church service in Ariko have remained in captivity for more than 70 days, with families allegedly receiving little reassurance of efforts to secure their release.
The association also said 11 persons kidnapped during an attack on Awon community have been held for over 50 days, accusing authorities of failing to provide a visible emergency response to the situation.
KUDA further raised concerns about a growing humanitarian crisis in the area, claiming that more than 100 communities have been displaced by persistent attacks. According to the group, thousands of displaced residents are living without officially recognized IDP camps, adequate relief materials, healthcare services, food assistance, or educational support.
The association said many displaced families are facing hunger, disease and extreme hardship, while children are dropping out of school and vulnerable groups struggle to access basic services.
Calling on the Federal Government, Kaduna State Government, Kachia Local Government and security agencies to take urgent action, KUDA demanded intensified efforts to secure the release of abducted persons, deployment of more security personnel to vulnerable communities, emergency humanitarian assistance, and official recognition of displaced settlements.
The group also urged authorities to commence the construction of the approved Forward Operating Base (FOB) at Maraba Barga Junction in Awon community.
