Rt. Hon. Yakubu Barde has expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for nominating him as a Federal Commissioner of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC), describing the appointment as a great honour and a testament to his decades of public service.
In a statement of appreciation, Barde said he accepted the nomination with “deep humility, honour and gratitude,” noting that the recognition reflects over 30 years of dedicated service to the nation.
He traced his political journey from serving as an elected Ward Councillor in Gwagwada Ward to becoming Vice Chairman and later Executive Chairman of Chikun Local Government Area. He also recalled serving as Kaduna State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, and later Health, before representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives for five consecutive terms between 2003 and 2023.
Barde thanked President Tinubu for finding him worthy of the national assignment and pledged to discharge his responsibilities with integrity, diligence and fairness in support of the administration’s agenda.
He also expressed gratitude to Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for his support and leadership, which he said have continued to promote unity and development in the state.
The former lawmaker equally appreciated the people of Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency and Kaduna State for their unwavering support throughout his political career, saying the nomination belongs to them as much as it does to him.
Looking ahead, Barde called on Nigerians to support him with prayers and goodwill as he prepares to assume office, promising to contribute to the standardisation of wage policies, promote industrial harmony and advance public welfare for national development.
