A group, the Kaduna State PDP Youths Solidarity Forum, has endorsed former Kaduna State lawmaker, Rt. Hon. Matthew Simon Gwazah, for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) deputy governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement titled “Voice. Vision. Value: Rt. Hon. Matthew Simon Gwazah for Deputy Governor Candidate 2027,” the group urged the party leadership and its governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Usman Shehu Bawa, to consider Gwazah as the running mate to strengthen the party’s chances in Southern Kaduna.
The forum said Gwazah’s emergence would promote unity, inclusivity, and wider acceptance of the PDP in Zone 3 (Southern Kaduna), describing him as a grassroots politician with a proven track record in public service.
According to the statement, Gwazah served as a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly and later as Special Adviser on Education under three former governors of the state—Namadi Sambo, the late Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa, and Ramalan Yero.
The group noted that his experience in both the legislative and executive arms of government, coupled with his grassroots appeal, has earned him respect across Zangon Kataf Local Government Area and Southern Kaduna.
It further described him as a peace advocate, bridge-builder, and mobilizer whose institutional knowledge and leadership qualities would complement the PDP governorship candidate.
The forum argued that pairing Usman Shehu Bawa with Matthew Simon Gwazah would provide a balance of competence and credibility capable of strengthening the party’s structures in Southern Kaduna and enhancing its prospects in the 2027 governorship election.
Reiterating its appeal, the group said Southern Kaduna deserves adequate representation and called on the PDP leadership to consider Gwazah for the deputy governorship position, insisting that his nomination would give the people of the zone a stronger voice while positioning the party for electoral success.
