The ambition of Rijo Shekari to clinch the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency gained major traction on Thursday, 11th December, 2025 as he formally inaugurated his Campaign Council in Zonkwa.

At the event, Shekari announced Bawa Fari from Fai Ward in Jaba LGA as Director-General of the RS 2027 Campaign Council, while Mr. Yunusa Ibrahim Ajagu from Ikulu Ward was named Secretary-General. Several notable grassroots politicians were also unveiled as coordinators, youth leaders, and women mobilizers across state constituencies and wards.

Shekari said the team was carefully selected to reflect the constituency’s diversity, political balance, and capacity to drive his transformative agenda anchored on the campaign slogan, “A Ray of Hope.”

According to him, the slogan mirrors his confidence in the leadership direction of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, whose developmental strides, he noted, continue to inspire optimism across the state.

Unveiling his priorities for the constituency, Shekari outlined rural transformation, agro-entrepreneurship, youth development, and mentorship as the core pillars of his 2027 agenda. He promised to introduce “fresh ideas” and run a youth-inclusive political movement capable of unlocking opportunities and addressing long-standing developmental gaps in both LGAs.

Describing the inauguration as “the birth of a new chapter” for the constituency, Shekari thanked members of the Campaign Council for accepting the responsibility, noting that their commitment reflects a collective desire for progress. He assured them of his full support throughout the journey to victory.

Looking ahead, Shekari pledged that if he secures the APC ticket and wins the 2027 election, he would prioritise the upgrade of St. Louis Hospital, Zonkwa, into a specialist facility focusing on paediatrics, gynaecology, and renal care, a move he said would reduce the burden of long-distance medical travel for residents.

Responding on behalf of the council members, the Director-General, Bawa Fari, expressed appreciation for the trust placed in them and vowed to work diligently to secure Shekari’s success at the APC primaries.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the APC chairmen of Zangon Kataf and Jaba LGAs, as well as several councillors from both local government areas.
