Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralized four suspected terrorists and rescued a total of nine kidnapped victims during sustained security operations around Dokan Karji and Kwassam communities in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The operation, which took place yesterday, was launched following actionable intelligence on the movement and activities of armed terrorists terrorizing the area. Security sources disclosed that troops engaged the criminals in a fierce gun battle, leading to the neutralization of four terrorists, while several others escaped into surrounding bushes with possible gunshot wounds.
Initially, two kidnapped victims were rescued during the encounter. However, further exploitation and clearance operations in nearby forests and hideouts led to the rescue of seven additional victims, bringing the total number of rescued persons to nine. All the victims were found alive and have since undergone preliminary medical checks and debriefing before being reunited with their families.
Items suspected to have been used by the terrorists were also recovered during the operation, while troops continued aggressive patrols to prevent the fleeing elements from regrouping or launching further attacks.
Residents of Dokan Karji and Kwassam communities have expressed relief and gratitude to the military, describing the operation as a significant boost to security in the area, which has experienced repeated cases of banditry and kidnappings.
Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements across Kaduna State and the wider North West region, assuring the public that efforts will continue until lasting peace and safety are fully restored.
