A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Daniel Amos, has expressed concern over a fire incident that gutted part of the palace of the Emir of Jama’a, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Muhammadu Isah Muhammadu II, OFR, CON.

In a statement issued on Friday, Amos said he received the news of the incident, which occurred on the evening of February 27, with deep concern, describing the palace as a symbol of heritage, unity and traditional authority in Jama’a Emirate.

The lawmaker commiserated with the Emir, the Jama’a Emirate Council and the people of the area over what he described as an unfortunate development.

He expressed gratitude that no lives were lost in the incident and commended the prompt response of emergency agencies and community members, whose efforts, he said, helped to contain the fire and prevent further damage.

Amos said his thoughts and prayers were with the Emir at the difficult moment, adding that he stood in solidarity with the Emirate and pledged support for efforts aimed at the restoration of the affected section of the palace.

The cause of the fire had yet to be officially confirmed as of the time of filing this report.
