The Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Barrister Sunday Marshall Katung, has distributed bags of rice to Muslim communities across the eight local government areas of the district as Ramadan palliative support.
The food items were presented to representatives of the eight local government areas during a brief ceremony, where the senator’s Special Adviser on Islamic Affairs, Ilyasu Musa, represented him.
Speaking on behalf of the senator, Musa said the gesture was part of Katung’s consistent tradition of reaching out to constituents during major religious seasons to help ease economic hardship, particularly during the fasting period and in preparation for the Sallah celebration.
He noted that the initiative reflects the senator’s inclusive leadership approach, recalling that similar support was extended to Christian communities during the Christmas season last December.
“This support is meant to assist families, especially the needy and vulnerable, at this important period. It demonstrates the senator’s continued commitment to the welfare of the people of Southern Kaduna,” Musa said.
He urged Muslim committee representatives from the eight local government areas to ensure the food items are fairly distributed to those who need them most, while also encouraging prayers for peace, unity and progress in the senatorial district.
Beneficiaries of the gesture expressed appreciation to the senator, describing the intervention as timely in view of the prevailing economic challenges facing many households.
