The Southern Kaduna Trailblazing Women Association (SOKATWA) has called on women across the region to actively participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued to journalists, the association’s President, Mrs. Belinda Augustine Istifanus, stressed the importance of women’s inclusion in shaping the nation’s future, describing voting as a vital tool for civic engagement and societal progress.
She urged women who are yet to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to do so before the registration deadline, noting that women represent a significant proportion of Nigeria’s voting population and must strengthen their influence through active participation.
Mrs. Istifanus also appealed to women who registered in urban areas to transfer their voting locations to their respective communities in Southern Kaduna to help boost the region’s electoral strength.
She further encouraged women to make deliberate plans, including traveling to their hometowns during elections, to ensure they exercise their voting rights.
The association also called on women to engage more actively in politics by joining political parties and contesting elective positions, assuring its support for female candidates willing to serve.
The statement, signed by SOKATWA Secretary, Mrs. Grace John Zomo, reaffirmed the group’s commitment to mobilizing women across Southern Kaduna to play a decisive role in the 2027 general elections.
