The President of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) and Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Audu Titus Amba, has called on the people of Southern Kaduna to massively support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, citing what he described as the dividends of democracy currently being enjoyed in the region.
Amba made the call on Saturday during the inauguration of the APC Zone 3 One Million Solidarity Votes Movement and its leadership structure in Kafanchan. The initiative, organised by stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Southern Kaduna, is aimed at mobilising support for the re-election of President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said the movement was a collective effort to unite the people of Southern Kaduna behind the APC and sustain the developmental gains recorded under the current administrations.
“We are here today to inaugurate the APC One Million Solidarity Votes Movement in Southern Kaduna to demonstrate that this is a collective movement of our people in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani,” he said.
Amba noted that teachers across Kaduna State were particularly pleased with Governor Uba Sani’s administration, contrasting it with the experiences of educators under the immediate past administration.
According to him, teachers suffered irregular salary payments during the administration of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, while about 22,000 teachers lost their jobs after allegedly failing a competency test.
He commended Governor Uba Sani for reinstating some of the affected teachers, describing the move as a demonstration of compassion and commitment to the welfare of education workers.
The labour leader also praised the governor for reviving the End-Well Scheme, a teachers’ welfare programme that was suspended under the previous administration despite monthly deductions from teachers’ salaries.
He said the release of the withheld funds and the restoration of the scheme brought relief to teachers across the state.
“Before the suspension of the scheme, many teachers were able to build houses, acquire land and invest in other assets through its support. Governor Uba Sani has revived the scheme, and it is once again serving the interests of teachers,” Amba stated.
He expressed confidence that the majority of teachers in Kaduna State would support Governor Uba Sani’s re-election in appreciation of his administration’s commitment to their welfare.
The event attracted APC leaders, supporters and stakeholders from across Southern Kaduna and featured the inauguration of the leadership structure that will coordinate the One Million Solidarity Votes Movement across the region ahead of the 2027 elections.
